Care International
The United Nations estimates that globally, approximately 35% of women are affected by violence. In a 2012 survey of women affected by violence in Laos, more than half reported needing to leave their home at times. Care Laos launched an initiative to address violence against women in the country and encourage men to take responsibility for their behaviour. To this end they formulated the Standing Up, Speaking Out campaign. They put together a small group of volunteers, made up of local music stars, students, Government, INGO, and UN staff to act as 'champions of change' and mobilize community support for an end to violence against women. I designed a range of materials for the project launch and other events and this short report to support Care’s advocacy of the issue.
